This is a vintage 1980s Black&Decker portable hand mixer. Includes original electrical cord and beaters. Cat. No. D1M24D. Made in USA. Household use only. (In other words, not for commercial or industrial use.) UL listed. KEY FEATURES Approximate dimension: 6 1/2 inches long, 3 1/4 inches wide, and 4 3/4 inches tall (at the ejector button). Used or pre-owned vintage condition. Tested and found to be in excellent working condition. It's unknown as to how much longer this appliance may continue to function given that it's 40+ years old. Also features compact styling and storage, built-in beater storage clips, detachable cord, fingertip speed control, full-size easy-clean chrome shaftless beaters (two of them), and push-button beater eject. May be used to mix, stir, or whip. May instead be used as a display piece. PROVENANCE AND INFORMATION This comes from my grandma's collection. I can remember this mixer being in her kitchen since what feels like forever. I can recall using this very mixer in my early adulthood when I would visit her and make something that needed a mixer, such as mashed potatoes or cookies. I also know she used this mixer for all the baking she did, whether she used it to mix the dough for potato-chip cookies, birthday cakes, icing, poppyseed pinwheel cookies, and more. This comes directly from her cozy kitchen in a cute, small house that was built in 1927 and located in the village of Yorkville in Ohio. From Wikipedia: Black+Decker Inc. is an American manufacturer of power tools, accessories, hardware, home improvement products, home appliances, and fastening systems headquartered in Towson, Maryland, north of Baltimore, Maryland, USA, where the company was originally established in 1910. (FYI, this particular mixer was made in Charlotte, North Carolina.) On March 12, 2010, Black & Decker merged with Stanley Works to become Stanley Black & Decker. It remains as a wholly owned subsidiary of that company. In 1910, The Black & Decker Manufacturing Company was founded by S. Duncan Black (1883–1951) and Alonzo G. Decker (1884–1956), as a small machine shop in Baltimore. Decker, who had only a seventh grade education, had met Black in 1906, when they were both 23-year-old workers at the Rowland Telegraph Company. With only $1,200 between them, one of their first jobs was designing machinery for making milk bottle caps and candy dipping. By 1912 The Black and Decker "Hexagon" logo symbol was introduced, symbolizing the head of a hexagonal bolt found in machine shops. It was used in one form or another from 1912 to 2014. In 2014, the company was rebranded from Black & Decker to Black+Decker This mixer features the original company name and hexagon logo. I don't know how much life this mixer has remaining, but I've personally used it in the past and I more recently tested it and found it to still be in good working order. It has survived over 40 years. Perhaps it will work for another 40. But it can also be used as a nice display piece in any collection of mixers and other small and hand-held appliances.
