We are pleased to offer a rare thermos teapot and set of five cups, made by Zōshirushi or Zojirushi, Japan. This vintage elephant Mahōbin (thermos) tea set features the traditional blue arabesque octopus scroll (tako kurakasa) pattern with a floral twist on the thermos, as well as on the exterior of the five porcelain tea cups. The thermos has a borosilicate glass vacuum liner, a hard plastic body with a dent-resistant metal cover, and includes a removable strainer basket. The set is a new old stock and comes packaged in the original box. The name of the set is called たこ唐草茶器セット (Octopus arabesque tea set). Some precautions and care instructions are written in Japanese on the back side of the red tag - "Do not subject the thermos to strong impact, or place near fire. Do not fill with hot water when the thermos is cold, and avoid suddenly filling it with cold liquids. When using with ice, fill with beverage first then slide the ice cubes in gently. Hand wash only in sudsy water with a scrubbing brush." The teapot measures about 8" tall and 7" wide and holds 1 liter. Each cup measures 2 1/4" wide, 2 7/8" tall and hold 4oz. The set is in excellent condition, it is new, unused old stock without any damage. There is some scuffing/wear present on the original box. Please check all the pictures for details and condition. This is a beautiful thermos tea set for enjoying hot tea in style at your office desk, on the patio, at a picnic or while on-the-go and traveling.
